TRENDY or NOT: Bossip asks about the phrase ‘No Homo’
LOL! I’ve been hearing/saying “no homo” since I was in high school. For those of you who don’t know the history of this wonderfully funny phrase, it began to take off back between 2001-2002. When I was merely a 9th-grader, Camron and Dipset were becoming very popular. Camron wore A LOT of pink, and even drove a pink Range Rover (range look like laffy taffy) and I guess he felt the need to drop a lot of “no homo’s,” but it was, in my opinion, just a joke. It does seem, however, that now some people do really say no homo A LOT to verify that they are not gay. Basically, there’s a difference in it’s usage. When I say no homo, it’s out of the funniness of a statement, e.g. if someone smacks you’re shoulder, you might describe the incident to someone by saying “he hit me hard from behind,” which would warrant a response of “no homo” or “pause!” LOL… now that I think about it, maybe it is getting out of hand! Eh, I’m sure the conversations of the youth would be a lot better without the phrase, but what can you do? I guess try to eliminate it one day at a time… This seems to be the trend of 2009 anyway, D.O._ (Death Of *insert whatever you’re trying to kill here*)
Check out Bossip’s take on it…
