NOT TRENDY: BAPE [Five Sta] seems to ‘borrow’ ideas from other designers

Yay, A Bathing Ape has come out with another sneaker design! Awesome, this is such a great design; vibrant, detailed, and… wait, wait a second! This looks just like something New Balance would make, no? Yeah, in fact these look uncannily similar to the New Balance 574 design that was ever so popular and trying to make its way back.

I like some BAPE stuff that is original, but some of the other stuff really has me wondering where the inspiration actually comes from. Anyone can copy a popular design, do some logo editing and colorway fixing and call it their own. Is this fashion? Somewhat, but it shouldn’t be the basis of your brand. However, I’m no one to talk because BAPE always sells out, so maybe they’re doing something right.

It’s no surprise, though, that New Balance 574′s would be next on the mimic-list because Pharrell, a very good friend of BAPE owner Nigo, has been seen wearing 574′s a lot as of recent:
