What to choose: HTC Evo, BlackBerry Bold, or Apple iPhone 4?
What to do, what to do? There comes a time in every blogger’s life where he/she is almost up with his/her current cell phone provider contract and has to now decide on what to do at this glorious crossroad. Well, my time has come and I have all these pretty cool options! Don’t get me wrong, Verizon is awesome but for the time being they haven’t been getting all these crazy phones. For example, the Blackberry Bold 9650 was supposed to drop on Verizon, too, but Sprint definitely beat them to the punch and even dropped the HTC Evo 4G soon after—Verizon needs to get it together! Anyway, let’s weigh my options, shall we…?
First off, I want to say that I’m #TEAMBLACKBERRY all the way, but lately these other phones (notably Android powered phones) have been catching my attention. Right now I’m still sporting the Blackberry Curve 8330, which was an awesome phone, but it’s so slow and dated compared to what’s out right now. Anyway, seeing that I’m a Blackberry lover, I was initially inclined to get the Blackberry Bold 9650. I’m not going to delve too deep into the specs of the phone, but I can say that the 9650 is probably the most complete Blackberry out right now. It is much improved: it has the physical keyboard that I love oh, so dearly, and it is sturdy with a sophisticated build.
So, I figured for a casual phone user like myself that the Blackberry Bold 9650 would be sufficient. This was until Sprint released the HTC Evo 4G. As of right now, this phone is supposed to be simply the best phone ever. When HTC and Google team up, it’s usually a hot and steamy encounter lol. The Evo 4G is a fuggin’ spec monster with a 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, which is by far the fastest phone I’ve ever heard about in my life. It also has an 8 megapixel camera with a 1.3 megapixel front camera for video chatting (lol, video chatting on a phone…right?). My only problem with this phone is that it’s full touch screen, and I feel like I REALLY need a keyboard.
Finally, the iPhone…Umm, I’ve had a lot of disdain for this phone because I believe that it’s been hyped since day one. Don’t confuse my dislike of the iPhone for a dislike of Apple products because I’m currently blogging from my MacBook that I love to death. I’ve always felt like the iPhone really confines customers. Some people like the simplicity and restrictions and some don’t; I’m on the “don’t” side. With all this being said, I can’t deny that the iPhone 4 does look really good. What I will say is that I wish it wasn’t on AT&T because I actually might get it and see what the hype is all about. It’s supposed to be released June 24th and I’m not sure if I’d wait that long anyway. The iPhone 4 does have some interesting specs, one being the marvelous display. Apple says that this is the most condensed display visible to the human eye. I’m actually excited to see how crisp the screen is.
I’m probably heading to the Sprint store tomorrow to actually use the HTC Evo 4G before I make any rash decisions…In the meantime, let me return to enjoying my Summer life =)
