Do you guys know the history behind the hemp material? No? Well, I’ll tell you a bit. According to Wikipedia, “Hemp (from Old English hænep) is the name of the soft, durable fibre that is cultivated from plants of the Cannabis genus, cultivated for commercial use.” Cannabis genus…does that ring a bell? It should, because other species in the Cannabis genus, such as indica and sativa, are the ones responsible for producing marijuana! Awesome, huh? I know; amazing how the healing plant can also be used to make shoes, lol. Anyway, about these Vans…

Well, there’s nothing more to say besides they’re dope! I love Vans and I think it’s a great thing that they decided to incorporate hemp into one of their designs. There are other colors, too, but they suck so I didn’t bother to post them. These remind me of the NIKE DUNK LOW PREMIUM Net/Medium Brown Hemp that I bought sometime in 2006-07, if I remember correctly, and those are still one of my favorite pair of sneakers to date. Surprisingly enough, I can’t seem to find them for sale anywhere anymore—it’s almost like they never existed…

Anyway, these Hemp Vans can be had for a steal via ZAPPOS.COM and when I say a steal, I mean $46.80! Nuts…

JACKPOT! I’ve been searching for better places to buy Vans aside from the dreaded mall or something similar. Seeing as how I enjoy shopping online because of the simple convenience (and the fact that I despise people…lol just kidding) I’m happy that I found out about OFFSPRING. I’m in Vans heaven—along with some other brands—and I couldn’t be any happier. Although I’m a NY’er, I love a pair of Vans like the next Californian and I’m pretty sure I’ve found my new e-shopping center. OFFSPRING is a UK based online store and sells these vans for about 38 GBP (gold British pound) which converts over to about 57 USD (U.S. dollars), and that sound about right for a pair of Vans.

Check out these cool gray/marble blue/red Vans. They’re not quite slip-ons, but who cares, right? I know I don’t and I’m contemplating buying these…oh wait, that’s right, I have no money lol. Well, in due time people, in due time!

Supreme came together with Vans to design four different shoes under the 106 series. I’m a huge fan of Vans and I love a lot of the collaborations between Supreme and clothing companies. Supreme’s prices may be a bit excessive at times, but these are affordable in my opinion. With a price tag of $80, it’s not such a terrible amount to drop. I especially love the two camouflage prints—they remind me of something BAPE would design while copying/editing another company’s sneaker style.
