Do you guys know the history behind the hemp material? No? Well, I’ll tell you a bit. According to Wikipedia, “Hemp (from Old English hænep) is the name of the soft, durable fibre that is cultivated from plants of the Cannabis genus, cultivated for commercial use.” Cannabis genus…does that ring a bell? It should, because other species in the Cannabis genus, such as indica and sativa, are the ones responsible for producing marijuana! Awesome, huh? I know; amazing how the healing plant can also be used to make shoes, lol. Anyway, about these Vans…

Well, there’s nothing more to say besides they’re dope! I love Vans and I think it’s a great thing that they decided to incorporate hemp into one of their designs. There are other colors, too, but they suck so I didn’t bother to post them. These remind me of the NIKE DUNK LOW PREMIUM Net/Medium Brown Hemp that I bought sometime in 2006-07, if I remember correctly, and those are still one of my favorite pair of sneakers to date. Surprisingly enough, I can’t seem to find them for sale anywhere anymore—it’s almost like they never existed…
